City Council backs up Mayor de Blasio in homeless aid dispute with Gov. Cuomo

ERIN DURKIN

The City Council passed a resolution Wednesday pushing the state to drop a budget ban on the use of state funds for rent assistance for homeless families - the subject of the latest dispute between Mayor de Blasio and Gov. Cuomo.

The change looks unlikely, with Cuomo declaring Tuesday that “it’s too late” and “the budget train has basically left the station.” De Blasio blamed the spat on an unspecified “miscommunication.”

But Council backers insisted there’s still hope to get the language dropped in the final budget, which is due April 1.
