Waitress faces prison time after accused of altering tips from customers

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WCTI/WKRC) - A waitress accused of altering tips at Snapperz Bar and Grill in Morehead City, N.C. stood before a Carteret County judge Tuesday morning.

Kelly White faces four felony charges, including one count of larceny by an employee and three counts of obtaining property by false pretense.

Snapperz is not just a family business for Marvin Hanford, it’s his family’s legacy.

“Twelve years ago, dad started Snapperz, it started as a dream between dad and mom,” said Hanford.

Oh, that's right, she's ripping people off when she herself is probably pretty poor.

Can't have that.

Rich people ripping off the poor and everyone else (other than people richer than they are), OTOH?

The American Way!

Just ask Steve Bannon about how the 'Build the Wall Ourselves' scam worked out for him (and his non-rich co-conspirators).

We have no idea if she’s poor or the people she stole from could be working class. No sympathy for her brazen thievery.

But I think the reason there is a lot of anger is that employers that steal wages from employees often get away with just a fine, and that there are a lot of serious crimes that are committed by white Republicans where they get off with little or no penalty.

You can't have a just justice system where only certain types of people get the book thrown at them while others walk away with small penalties.

I knew a crooked bartender in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, where she would add her 'tip' to the price of a pitcher of beer...unless you knew what the actual price was and call her out on it.

My friends and I would walk right out of there if she was working.

What she was doing was changing the tip amount on debit or credit card receipts, so yeah, it's a felony. So easy to do if you do it right.

Absolutely nothing to do with the business, this is an exchange between card holder and waitress (of course, if the business properly pays their staff the tip amount, some companies keep their wait staff's tips).

So, it is like you are saying the waitress is rich ripping off poor card holders.

Pay for goods with card, tip in cash. There's no gray area when it's done that way.
