MOORESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Members of Mooresville’s Board of Commissioners are calling on the mayor to resign over a controversial late-night incident that has led to lawsuits.

The cases follow Mayor Chris Carney’s 2024 early-morning visit to town hall, during which he was partially unclothed.

Several people in attendance at the meeting stood up in support of Carney’s resignation.

The call to action comes after an October 2024 incident where Carney was caught on camera inside the town hall in the middle of the night without pants on, allegedly with a town female communications consultant.
