Our daughter interviewed for a job and got it! She'll be moving to the Asheville area in a few weeks. So, we're losing a good Democratic voter, but you're gaining one.
Thanks to those who answered my questions about the Sylva area in another thread. She'll be moving near Canton (and avoiding the paper mill, evidently!)

(60,014 posts)Our days in Raleigh are probably numbered (well, our years, anyway)...but food, beer, coffee - and liberals - sounds pretty good to me - esp. when you add the beauty of the mountains!

(4,276 posts)It's my hometown and a wonderful place to live. It's just a short 30 -35 minutes from Asheville via I-40. I spend my summers there (actually "here" as I'm up in the mtns. right now). And NC needs all the good Democrats it can get. Thank goodness Asheville is a good bit more liberal thinking than most of the state.
Congrats to your daughter.

(6,324 posts)I was there earlier this week.
Canton still smells, an it is a shame what that mill does to the river. But it also has what are really the only union manufacturing jobs around, so I guess the good comes with the bad.
