Retired admiral endorses Clinton

Retired Rear Admiral Deborah Loewer, who grew up in Springfield, today urged voters to elect Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton over Republican Donald Trump.

In a conference call with Ohio reporters, Loewer said Trump “has demonstrated to us all that he does not have the patience, the experience, the emotional fortitude and, yes, the temperament to be our president. Frankly, I don’t trust him to pull it together to be calm under pressure.”

In addition, the Clinton campaign unveiled a new TV commercial featuring Loewer, who has returned to Springfield to live. She was the Navy’s first warfare-qualified woman to be promoted to flag rank and the former director of the White House Situation Room.

Loewer, who has voted Republican in the past and supported the presidential candidacy of Gov. John Kasich, said on the conference call she was “putting the safety of my country above my party" to endorse Clinton.
