Judge refuses to dismiss charges against Akron terrorism suspect

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A federal judge on Wednesday refused to dismiss terrorism-related charges against an Akron man that the FBI said posted threats online toward members of the military in support of the Islamic State.

U.S. District Judge Dan Polster ruled that federal prosecutors provided enough information in an indictment for Terrence McNeil to stand trial on the 15 federal charges he faces.

McNeil, 26, is accused of posting files on his social-media pages that contained the names and addresses of people believed to be members of the military. Included in the files were messages encouraging others to kill those people, according to the FBI.

He had argued that the indictment is not based on facts that show he committed the crimes in which he is charged. Specifically, the indictment does not show that he posted the files with an intent to threaten or solicit violence against anybody, McNeil previously argued.
