The Ohio River is approaching flood stage again

The Ohio started rising on April 3rd, closing most of downtown Marietta, and many low-lying areas outside the city limits. The streets and roads just started opening Sunday 4/7 and Monday 4/8. Some businesses in Marietta weren't cleaned up/opened from last week. Some streets on the west and south side of Marietta have closed already. The Ohio River is predicted to crest on Sunday morning, 8 a.m., at 37 feet, moderate flood stage. The flood last week crested at 40.07, a major flood. Once again, river towns from Wheeling, WV south will experience high water. WV is getting more flooding this week than they got last week, especially just south of Parkersburg, WV. What a mess.

I'm in Pittsburgh and we've had solid rain since Tuesday. The rivers and streams are very high here, and overflowing in some places. We're just sending it all downstream to you folks in Ohio. Good luck!

The amount of rain we’ve had in Ohio/PA recently is mind boggling. We just had a power outage here from a tree down the street that toppled over onto power lines. The ground is just so saturated.

Stay safe Marthe - and all other folks who’ve been inundated with rain the last few days.

where considerable rain has fallen and more is expected. This will contribute toward maintaining high water levels in coming days. My area is part of the Muskingum watershed.

The beginning of the Muskingum River is about 40 miles away. I’m farther upstream, near the source. - the headwaters, the continental divide between waters that flow into the Great Lakes from those flowing into the Gulf of Mexico.

I didn't know Ohio had the distinction of parting the watershed. That'll give me something to read about
