Excerpt:
"And speaking of Republicans helping Democrats, for your reading pleasure we have a letter from Governor Tom Corbett pushing Steve Welch, the Obama-voting, Joe Sestak-supporting U.S. Senate candidate he personally endorsed (and strong-armed the Republican Party to do the same). Unfortunately for the Governor, his letter is being received by an ever-dwindling number of supporters, many of whom are flat-out rejecting his call to back Welch.
From elected officials to the grassroots, they are so incensed by what Corbett has demanded of them (akin to Party treason) that they are openly supporting other candidates in the race. Welch is most likely heading for a second-place finish, and maybe even third, either of which would be an incredible embarrassment to Corbett and a severe blow to his ebbing credibility.
Alienating the Party faithful in a mystifying way is not exactly a recipe for influencing people and making friends, a fact lost on this Governor. So in the spirit of accuracy, it is Freindly Fires civic duty to correct the Governors letter to reflect the truth, though we will leave the bad sentence structure intact."
-------------
Apparently, Corbett picked Welch because he was rich enough to finance his own campaign. Corbett is very very afraid that Patrick Murphy will become Attorney General. Corbett wanted to make sure enough fundraising dollars were "freed" up from the Senate race in order to spend the money on defeating Murphy. However, the usual Pa. Republican party discipline fell apart and the many other Republican candidates for the US Senate stayed in the race.

(18,541 posts)1. Let's hope that the (R) governors and Congress continue to overreach...
on all these issues that offend even the hard-core Teahadii, then ramp it up into overdrive between now and November.
January 2013 is as good a time as any to begin a new era.

"Corbett is very very afraid that Patrick Murphy will become Attorney General."
That says it all.
