Drunk man who stabbed someone for failing to have a lighter could serve decades in prison
A Lancaster, Pa, man who stabbed someone who told him they did not have a lighter could serve anywhere from 12.5 to 25 years in prison, county prosecutors said. Kenneth Clark was extremely drunk Oct. 21, 2020, when he stabbed a man twice on the 400 block of Beaver Street after the man told Clark he did not have a lighter, according to Lancaster City police.
Clark was “verbally and physically unruly” in court and eventually had to be removed from the room while he was tried on charges of aggravated assault and possession of an instrument of crime, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office. Clark was found guilty and sentenced May 4, prosecutors said. The DA’s office announced Clark’s sentencing this week.
Prosecutors and Judge Donald Totaro agreed Clark was a danger to society,
based on his aggressive behavior in court and in the Lancaster County Prison, the DA’s office said in a Friday news release.
Clark also had rejected all programming offered through the county prison and Department of Corrections, prosecutors said. They said he’d only been out of prison for four months prior to the stabbing.
