Top Pennsylvania Senate Republican leader Jake Corman tests positive for COVID-19

Pennsylvania’s top Senate Republican tested positive for the coronavirus Wednesday morning — one day before making an anticipated gubernatorial campaign launch.

Senate President Pro Tempore Jake Corman, R-Centre, is quarantining at his home in Bellefonte, Pa. Fully vaccinated for COVID-19, Corman is experiencing mild symptoms and out of an “overabundance of caution” has been routinely tested during the pandemic, his office said in a statement.

“Like many Americans, this morning Sen. Corman tested positive for COVID-19, despite being fully vaccinated,” his office said, adding that he “looks forward to a complete recovery.”

With the Senate in session this week, Corman spoke on the floor of the upper chamber Tuesday night and was expected to announce his run for governor at an event at Axemann Brewery in Centre County on Thursday. The owner of Axemann Brewery confirmed that the event was canceled.

he has been whining about Wolf appealing the nonsense that he spearheaded taking the Executive Branch to court to remove the mask mandates in the schools, which were going to be phased out by mid-January as more eligible students get vaccinated.

This is why a "layered approach" of mitigation (masking/social distancing, etc) plus vaccination can help keep the transmission down and reduce the chances of breakthroughs and/or re-infections, as well as mutations due to continual spread. This is particularly important with the Delta variant.

2. My doctor just told me on Wednesday that he expects

we'll need COVID-19 vaccinations at least once a year from now on thanks to those (psychos--my word, not his) who refuse to (do their civic duty to--my words not his) mask, distance, and get vaxed.

3. The vaccine makers are already working on trials for combo mRNA flu-COVID19 shots

I expect those might be ready to go next year.

What I hope is that doing a mRNA flu shot might give us a lot better efficacy than the traditional viral (inactivated/attenuated/recombinant) types, which generally only give minimal protection from season to season if they "guess" which types will actually circulate over here in this hemisphere each year.

In fact from what I gather, using the mRNA platform, they found they could wait a few more months before starting up their vaccine batch manufacturing, which gives them more time to narrow down which ones have a better chance of erupting here.
