Rep. Susan Wild (PA-07) counters GOP re: gas prices.

- Congresswoman Susan Wild says the U.S. only imports 4% of its oil from Russia. She says the war in Ukraine has little to do with the current gas prices.

- "We are not as reliant on Russian oil as what's being portrayed by my GOP colleagues. And frankly if the price goes up it's because our domestic oil producers quite honestly aren't producing as much oil as they can and should," Wild said.

- Wild says 11.7 million barrels of oil are produced every day in the U.S., down from 13 million before the pandemic. She says Europe will be much harder hit by the war.

We Democrats need to quickly counter the GOP narratives regarding gas prices and inflation, or we're going to get pounded in Nov.

Activist oil investors are opposed to increased production. Their goal is to keep production on the low side to keep their costs down and drive the consumer cost up. Many investors don't consider the risk this strategy presents to the nation during troubled times. They see refined oil as just another product like a bag of potato chips or a pack of paper clips.

Perhaps the largest, richest, most profitable corporations known to humankind could forego some profit and stop gouging all of us.

My heating bill is out of control. My family drive trucks out of work necessity and are being ripped off at the pump.

ExxonMobil, BP, Shell, and all of the others don't care about peoples, countries, or the planet.

They owe us big time. War-profiteering thieves.
