Gasland Part 2 is out, and it does not look good for PA.

Here's the trailer for Gasland Part 2 by Josh Fox

http://vimeo.com/68553403

Fox has been traveling throughout the US doing previews and discussion sessions for his new movie.

About 30% of the movie features PA. That includes coverage of the town of Dimmock in NE Pa where water was contaminated, apparently by inadequate gas well casings. The Rendell Administration ordered the fracker to extend a public water system to the town. Then, Corbett was elected, and the fracker was told they didn't have to spend the money. Then, the EPA got involved, and was reportedly told by higherups to tell the people their water was safe and to ignore the situation.

The film covers the plans for multiple liquified natural gas ports that would ship US natural gas overseas. The prices are much higher overseas. That could cause a second round of explosive growth in gas wells.

The film describes how the fracking process may be the worst fuel in regards to global climate change, because the wells release some of the worst gases for global climate change. Each well is regulated separately vs. if a well field was considered as a whole, it could violate Clean Air standards. The movie also emphasizes how a high percentage of the wells have improper casings, which is what causes the water pollution.

I believe the movie is for sale on Amazon. It will have its nationwide broadcast premiere soon on HBO.

There may be a long version and a short version. The version at the preview was 2 hours and 15 minutes long, but another version is advertised at 1 hr. 20 minutes.

Much of the movie is about individual families who have been impacted, with exploding water and serious health problems. One family is told not to use their well water to even water their lawn, or their lawn could catch on fire. Many are offered a settlement in return for their silence. One old grizzled combat-wounded vet is offered a cash settlement for himself if he stays quiet. The voiceover then says "This man is about to cost us our G rating." The vet then launches into a string of obscenities describing how he will never be quiet, and how he will not ignore his neighbors who are in the same situation.

There was some conservative a-hole who wouldn't let him make his points and kept interrupting him. Fox said that the cement casings are only one inch thick! No wonder they leak.

It will be shown on HBO on July 8. Mark your calendars!
