Top aide to Attorney General Kane convicted of indirect criminal contempt

NORRISTOWN — A judge on Tuesday convicted a top aide to Attorney General Kathleen Kane on a charge of indirect criminal contempt.

Patrick Reese, 48, the special agent in charge of Kane's security detail, was accused of accessing secret information to keep Kane apprised of employees testifying against her before a grand jury.

Montgomery County Judge William Carpenter, who oversaw the grand jury and heard the case against Reese, did not sentence him but requested a pre-sentencing report. Reese remains free on non-monetary bail. He could face up to six months in jail.

“We're disappointed,” said Reese's attorney William Fetterhoff. He said Reese will appeal the conviction to Superior Court after sentencing.
