(50,986 posts)Pennsylvania voters send Toomey packing.
I've always considered Toomey to have a dangerous agenda for the country, and the longer he accrues influence in the Senate, the more likely that agenda could be realized.
Sending good vibes to the McGinty campaign. Go, Katie!

(50,986 posts)shaping up? Clinton-Kaine seems to be drawing significant support in the Philadelphia area.
I hope that means it will lift McGinty as well.

(15,286 posts)What I've seen McGinty is doing very well. She looks very confident and relaxed and is giving clear, cohert answers. She's pretty much batting all Toomey's attacks aside. Toomey looks uncomfortable.

(28,394 posts)Toomey is making all kinds of grimaces and is shifting around like he has ants in his pants! LOL
I was a little worried because of her shaky performance during her speech at the DNC. She looks and sounds very sharp and competent tonight.
This is actually better than the presidential debates!

(15,286 posts)The 3 moderators asked some good questions and tried to elict direct answers even when the candidates tried to shift into their preferred talking points.
It was interesting to see both dance around Ken Rice's yes or no answer question on if they agreed that Trump's policies will bring back the steel mills to western PA. They both essentially said "no" without using the word. Both said towns can come back but the jobs will be different. Toomey just emphasized jobs related to the fossil fuel industry. McGinty said jobs related across the energy spectrum, threw in climate change and jobs related to infrastructure like replacing lead water pipes. Her answer was better and more complete, imho.
McGinty really tagged Toomey over his votes to obstruct judicial appointments. He looked glum answering during the back and forth with her.
I think McGinty did herself a lot of good, especially with Dems like me who weren't very inspired by her.
