Related: About this forumSo how much will this voter ID billl cost us?
The costs will include a requirement for the state to publicize and educate the voters of the new law. It is estimated that this alone will cost $3,837,500 this coming year.
There is also a requirement to provide anyone who does not have an approved photo ID with one free of charge. This is estimated to cost $1,024,191 this year.
They expect future years will maximally cost $2,264,000 each year.
How is that for fiscal responsibility from the Republicans who are making a point of spending all this money on a solution without a problem?

(18,219 posts)It will be important to help people get photo IDs if they don't have them. And although the law does not specify HOW the state is required to notify the people of the state about these requirements, we will have to also take the initiative on this.

(6,819 posts)The law will go into full effect on...... drumroll.... the Obama-Romney election day. Some polling places have trouble handling crowds on Presidential election days. The counties may have to pay for additional poll workers to handle the ID process and to handle people who have to come into the county courthouse within 6 days later if they didn't have an ID with them.

(18,219 posts)as well as a shortage of poll workers. I have already heard from a few people who work the polls who have said that they may not continue if this is too burdensome for them......it is already a difficult day's work.
And.....are you surprised that they pulled this off just in time for the presidential election? Bastards.

This new voter ID law makes me absolutely sick. I can't stand it that our senior citizens and the poor will be disenfranchised.
