Jerry Sandusky's son arrested, charged with child sexual abuse

Jeffrey Sandusky, the son of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky, was arrested Monday and charged with sexually assaulting two minors, according to the complaint obtained by USA TODAY Sports.

Pennsylvania State Police detained Sandusky on six felony counts: statutory sexual assault; involuntary deviate sexual intercourse; photographing, videographing, depicting on computer or filming sexual acts; and unlawful contact with a minor; sexual abuse of children; corruption of minors.

The 41-year-old Sandusky is being held on $200,000 bail and is prohibited from any contact with minors.

Sandusky's father, Jerry, was convicted of sexually abusing 10 boys and was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison at the age of 68 -- essentially a life sentence.

3. I don't think it runs in the family because of a genetic abnormality...

...but Sandusky the younger could have been a victim of Sandusky the older, and could have perpetuated in that fashion. Many times victims can become abusers themselves if not treated.

In addition, I believe the Sandusky children were adopted.

5. It is not passed on genetically. However it is learned behavior.

I did work as an investigator for child protective services. We always sent the abused child for counseling. Placing an abused child in foster care was a bit tricky.

7. Mom Dottie Sandusky had to know what was happening

This is a sickening story, and we in Pennsylvania had to go through the trial and sentencing of Jerry S. a few years ago.

But it's never been revealed how much Jerry's wife knew, in fact I don't believe she even took the witness stand at the trial. If she did testify, it was only to say that she didn't know what was going on with those boys. Yeah right. Not only did Jerry abuse some of the boys in their own house, apparently it was happening with some of their adopted children as well.

Dottie knew - those were her children too. She looked the other way and pretended it wasn't happening. Criminal negligence, she belongs in jail with her husband.

Sadly their children who were abused (at least 2 of the adopted boys) will need many years of counselling, but Jeffrey should never be allowed near children again. I don't believe in blaming the victims, but this cannot continue.

She had to have an idea what was going on. I guess she just willed herself to ignore, not believe or rationalize it. But, maybe she really didn't know. JS was a highly skilled pedophile, he fooled nearly everyone. Only 1 psychologist who interviewed JS got it right that he was grooming kids.
