Gemma comes off to me as a guy running because "Hey, I'm a businessman and you all know me (his family has a huge plumbing business here in RI and does a lot of charity work) and I'm a nice guy." Cicilline has a fair share of baggage regarding his tenure as Mayor of Providence and he's going to have a tough race in November.

Gemma is a Dem primary opponent, by the way....supposedly he hired a PI for some reason. So in all likelihood all he's doing is killing his own nice guy image while giving a Rethug more ammo.

I haven't been following this race; but why can't Democratic primary rivals stick to the issues; rather than dig up dirt?

It's like competing for a starting spot on the football by deliberately hurting the person that holds the starting spot.

You might get the spot ... and you might even prove to be better in that spot ... but you hurt the team.

PROVIDENCE --

Democratic congressional candidate Anthony Gemma is accusing U.S. Rep. David Cicilline of committing voter fraud.

Gemma says Cicilline's campaign paid people to vote multiple times in 2010 and asked ineligible voters to impersonate registered voters or dead voters. Gemma announced the allegations at a news conference Wednesday.

Gemma says private investigators hired by his campaign found instances of voter fraud dating to Cicilline's successful 2002 campaign for Providence mayor.
