Part-time employee volunteers to pay elderly woman's $198 grocery bill
JOHNSTON, R.I. (WJAR) A part-time employee went above and beyond his customer service duties to help a Rhode Island woman in need.
Sally Petreyko, 76, said she recently suffered a heart attack and had spent some time in the hospital. She also said she's a cancer survivor.
"When I came home from the hospital, there was absolutely no food in my apartment," she said. "I was in the hospital. I couldn't go shopping and I wasn't in good condition when I came home. I was literally without food, nothing to drink except like two bottles of water. No bread, no coffee, no milk. Nothing was in my refrigerator."
Her neighbor Carrie offered to take her to the Market Basket grocery store in Johnston last Thursday.
