Cumberland County ready for Election Day after fire at commission building

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Election Day is Tuesday and it comes just over a month after a fire significantly damaged the Cumberland County Election Commission building.

Administrator of Elections Jill Davis estimates that around $500,000 worth of equipment was lost in the fire.

“We lost all of our supplies that were in the back,” she said. “The voting machines, the iPads and all the supplies that go out on Election Day.”

They have since had to repurchase everything, including poll voting machines, poll pads, clerk boxes and more.
