Special prosecutor expected in complaint against Perry

A special prosecutor will be named as early as next week to investigate a complaint that Gov. Rick Perry violated state laws when he threatened to veto funding for the Austin-based ethics enforcement unit.

Senior District Judge Robert “Bert” Richardson of San Antonio, appointed July 15 to oversee an investigation of the complaint filed by the watchdog group Texans for Public Justice, said Wednesday he plans to name an “attorney pro tem” to oversee the seldom-used investigative procedure.
