South Texas Teen Charged With Murder of Six After DPS Pursuit

ROMA — On the day her 18-year-old grandson faced six counts of murder, Guadalupe Ramirez said she questions why a Texas Highway Patrol sergeant proceeded with a chase that left a family dead.

She is the grandmother who raised Hector Guadalupe Ramirez, a Roma man released from the hospital Thursday after he underwent surgery on his shoulder following a pursuit Monday northwest of Alton.

DPS has said troopers arrested Hector Ramirez after he attempted to run from the accident scene Monday. But he told his grandmother that the impact of the crash threw him from the stolen Ford F-250 pickup truck at the intersection of Western Road and Farm-to-Market Road 2221.

“He told me: ‘Abuela, I was thrown out of that truck,’” the grandmother said. “I told him: ‘You have to remember how this happened.’”

And of course grandma is blaming the authorities instead of asking why her beloved, sainted mijo was behind the wheel of a stolen truck & fleeing.

on edit: he'd been arrested just days before in another stolen vehicle & a "small amount of marijuana." Now we know why he started driving recklessly---his bond would be revoked & he'd have to sit on his ass in jail. Pobrecito.
