O&G Industy Gulf of Mexico Garbage dump.

I would like to know whom these are:

Opposition to the federal policy of removing the retired oil and gas platforms has been fierce among some scientists in Texas and Louisiana, as well as among some conservation groups.

We need Big Oil to clean up the Gulf Not Sportsman or Taxpayer funds. Ther is a great program already up and running. Rigs to Reefs. But that cost Big Oil money and they don't want to take care of their own mess.

FONDREN FOUNDATION. The Fondren Foundation was established in 1948 by Ella Florence Fondren, the widow of Walter W. Fondren, one of the founders of Humble Oil and Refining Company (later Exxon Company, U.S.A.). The foundation supports agencies for education, health, and human services, and the chair of the board of governors rotates among family members. In 1995 foundation assets exceeded $100 million, and the foundation office was located in Houston.

The science building where I went to college was named in honor of the Fondren family that donated generously to its construction in the 1950s. It is a four story limestone building that looks like a barn with a lecture auditorium jutting out towards the highway running in front of the university. Apparently Mrs. Fondren didn't look at the construction plans in advance because the building was so ugly that she vowed never to give any more money to the university.

The Fondren Foundation contributed to the expansion of the building in the late 90s that corrected the architectural gaffe and announced a $1 million gift for the next set of renovations which are in progress. The renovation plans call for removing the roof, adding fourth floor windows and including an atrium in the center of the building.

The left portion of the building was constructed in the 50s, the right portion was added as an expansion in 1999.

My grandfather was also employed by Humble Oil back in the 40s and 50s.
