Whether you think it's a serious challenge, the tribulations of a madman, both, or a thinly-veiled attempt to exit politics in a blaze of glory instead of face mounting ethics violations, Steve Stockman is running against John Cornyn. In that effort, it would be useful -- maybe crucial, fundraising-wise -- for Stockman to rack up support from Republican politicians. So far, though, such support has not been forthcoming.
"Maybe all he can tolerate is one term," said Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, referring to the fact that Stockman was voted out of office in 1996 after his first term. Jordan is former head of the Republican Study Committee, which Stockman sits on. "He served one term, then left. Now he's served one term, and he's leaving."
As Jerry Seinfeld once said: "That can't be good."
Texas Republicans have been no more embracing. "I was surprised and shocked that he's decided to take on someone who I think is a really great senator for our state," said Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Midland. "I don't see Stockman being particularly competitive."

(145,558 posts)Okay, if you ever need a measuring stick to find out just how much Steve Stockmans tray is not in the full upright and locked position, you have this
Tea party firebrand Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) isnt endorsing Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) or anyone else in the Republican primary for Sen. John Cornyns Senate seat.I didnt know he was gonna run, and I have not I didnt endorse him, Gohmert told the Daily Caller on Wednesday when asked about Stockmans challenge to Cornyn. I hadnt planned on endorsing anybody in any office in the primary.
Honey, when Louie Gohmert thinks youre a nut, you need to go check yourself in somewhere before you gnaw off your hand or something.

I also saw this story that raise some concerns about donations that the campaign has received:

(145,558 posts)Now the FEC is all up in Steve Stockmans face.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, something about illegal contributions. Like the law ever applied to Steve Bygawd Stockman in the first place.
I mean, hell, whats the point of being in congress if you cant take all the money people wanna give you?
It was a Christmas present, FEC, so there. You dont love little Baby Jesus? You dont believe in Christmas presents?
Stockman is an idiot and a joke but I hope that he gives Cornyn a good race

(24,045 posts)... to explain his bizarre statement - "If babies had guns, they wouldn't be aborted." WTF!!! For the life of me, I cannot make any sense out of this insane utterance. How does he propose to get the guns to the fetuses?
even if one could put a miniature firearm "up there", wouldn't it function much like an IUD? And who is going to instruct the fetuses in the safe handling of guns so they don't hurt themselves? ("snidecasm" alert)
Having a gun in one's uterus would certainly be the ultimate in concealed carry.
