Judge William Adams made $49,000 during first four months of suspension (child abusing judge)

CORPUS CHRISTI — Aransas County family law Judge William Adams received nearly $49,000 in pay in almost four months since he stopped hearing cases.

Adams was suspended after the release of a 2004 video showing him striking his then-teenage daughter with a belt. His duties in the County Court-at-Law included determining whether parents were fit to raise their children.

The county must continue to pay Adams while awaiting the results of the State Commission on Judicial Conduct's investigation.

"I'm not going to comment on it," said County Judge Burt Mills, who, as the county's chief executive, oversees the budget. "It's something that's mandated by the Supreme Court. We have no say so."

But you know the county has no choice. I mean you certainly would want an accused person to have their day in court and not be penalized incorrectly. In this case there is clear evidence of the abuse (video) but in some cases it may be less clear.

Justice is not always fair.

I don't know if this is an elected position, but I believe it is. I think the taxpayers of this county can certainly speak loudly about his re-election next time. William Adams should be looking for other employment.

They need to cut the guy off as quickly as possible and stop wasting taxpayer money on that POS.

He is paid by both the county and the state and receives a cell allowance. The county has also paid $2,600 for visiting judges to handle his caseload.

They certainly know a lot more about his "qualifications" than they used to. He was able to hide his real self for a long time. Not any more.
