Ted Cruz’s heart was weeping over same-sex marriage, but now it’s completely broken

If you ever needed a reason to fight even harder for marriage equality, now you have it: Our victories are apparently ripping the shit out of Texas tea party Sen. Ted Cruz’s heart.

Right Wing Watch is chronicling Cruz’s appearances on conservative radio shows to promote his “State Marriage Defense Act,” introduced last week. The bill would prohibit the federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages in states where they’re banned. As of today, it still had only one co-sponsor, fellow tea party Sen. Mike Lee of Utah.

On Thursday, Cruz appeared on Washington Watch with Family Research Council President Tony Perkins.

“Our heart weeps for the damage to traditional marriage that has been done,” Cruz said. “We need to stand up and defend traditional marriage and especially do everything we can to prevent the federal government from forcing a different definition of marriage that is contrary to the views to the citizens of each state.”

How does the single-sex marriage of two people you don't know, will never see and who live halfway across the state from you, affect your opposite-sex marriage in any way, shape or form? "I know they're offending God and that bothers me greatly" is NOT an acceptable answer.

That allowed Tommy Lee to marry Pamela Anderson. Later after the ceremony she asked, "What is my last name?" Yes lets keep protecting the sanctity of marriage between one woman and one man.
