Sam Houston flexing his campaign muscles

[Note: There are no links here, just observations from a campaign insider]

Sam Houston's campaign against admitted felon Ken Paxton [Note: Paxton has not been tried or convicted - rather, in statements he has made to many news sources, he has admitted to committing acts that are felonies under a particular Texas securities law] is gaining traction.

When Paxton beat Branch in the runoff in May, the republican party had nominated a man who has admitted to committing a felony (under a law he helped draft as a legislator) to be their standard bearer for the state's top lawyer. Unbelievable. The baggage this guy carries is beginning to weigh him down. Word on the street is individual republicans, and groups normally quite sympathetic to republicans in Texas, are shunning him. After all, who wants to pal around with a guy who admits such acts?

Watch the endorsements coming over the next months. They will be telling.

The long and short of it is: We have a real chance this year of electing some solid upticket Democrats in Texas, especially Sam. Any money you can spare is greatly needed and will be wisely spent informing the generally-uniformed Texas electorate about the confessed criminal running against Sam.
