http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/02/texas-cant-change-the-nature-of-math-fox-guest-destroys-gov-abbott-for-rejecting-common-core/And Texas can teach math any way it wants, but what Texas cant do is change the nature of mathematics and what mathematical reasoning and mathematical sequence becomes.
Ive got to strenuously disagree with that, Abbott shot back. And this is going to be easy, frankly. I hope all your viewers will go to Google and plug in 9 + 6 Common Core. And when you do that, if you just plug in 9 + 6 Common Core, you will find a video that shows the way that math is taught under Common Core.
Abbott was most likely referring to a WGRZ video that has been popular on conservative media outlets. In the video report, a teacher explains one method for teaching elementary school children how to add 9+6″ to reach the expected result of 15.
Wait, wait, wait! Fox News host Chris Wallace exclaimed. Put me out of my misery because I would think 9+6 is 15. So, whats the deal?

The Kochs' war on Common Core
July 20, 2014 - By Steven Elbow
When Gov. Scott Walker first spoke against Common Core educational standards last fall, his remarks coincided with a flurry of anti-Common Core activity across the nation, including a similar repudiation of the standards by Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who, like Walker, had previously backed them.
So when Walker called for Common Core's repeal on Thursday, it wasn't surprising that other Republican governors, too, were initiating processes to roll it back in their respective states...
While some on the left have opposed Common Core, primarily because of its focus on standardized testing, obliterating the standards has become a defining focus of the right. And most influential among right-wing opponents are Charles and David Koch, arguably among the most formidable non-elected political players in the history of American politics...
First, mobilize to strike down the Common Core. Then push to expand school choice by offering parents tax credits or vouchers to help pay tuition at private and religious schools. Next, rally the troops to abolish the U.S. Department of Education. Then its on to eliminating teacher tenure...
It's a pervasive, Libertarian movement for the most part, and hard to ignore. Much more details on how it's being sold and implemented at the link:

Koch Brothers Do Common Core
By Alan Singer - 01/05/2015
A lot there, not even going to try to post it. The Koch brothers work from both sides, pro and con, and the total destruction of public education is their goal. They seem unstoppable:

Nothing the government, or any public institution tries to do, is acceptable any longer. We lost the media under Reagan, and the race to the bottom in all venues of American is like a snowball going downhill. We're living in a Stephen King novel:
