Downtown Amarillo accommodated a different kind of traffic Thursday evening.
At 6 p.m., 60 Longhorns driven by cowboys and cowgirls moseyed along a route that started on South Polk Street and ended at Amarillo Tri-State Fairgrounds.
The stroll marked the Coors Cowboy Club Cattle Drives second consecutive year after an 18-year absence. The drive is part of the festivities leading up to the Coors Cowboy Club Ranch Rodeo.
(The drive) is not a new idea. Back in the 90s they used to have it, but now we brought it back, Coors Cowboy Club spokesman Eric Miller said. Last year we had 30 cattle come through and this year we doubled it to have 60 Longhorns participate.

Some of the cattle there were longhorns, favored for their ruggedness.
