Waco - Bellmead Drive Sam’s Club evacuated after suspected ‘explosive device’ found
Officials temporarily evacuated part of the Sams Club on Bellmead Drive and closed a major intersection after a suspected explosive device was found outside the store.
The Bellmead police and fire departments, along with the Waco Fire Department and McLennan County Sheriffs Offices bomb squad, responded to a call about a suspicious package at 1:15 p.m. Wednesday. The suspicious device was found inside a blue tote bag.
Police at the scene said at least one possibly explosive device was found, though they didnt specify what kind of device it was.
Bellmead police Detective Kory Martin said about 5:10 p.m. that officials still were trying to determine if the device was real or simply a hoax.
