Brothers Mow Lawn To Keep Woman From Going To Jail

RIESEL, Texas (KWTX) - An arrest warrant for a Central Texas woman ends with an act of kindness from four brothers.

"It's a summer day, we don't have season passes yet to Hawaiian Falls. What else could we do but go out and help some people," said Blaine Reynolds, one of the boys who helped out.

On Tuesday, the Reynolds boys saw News 10's report about Gerry Suttle, the 75-year-old Riesel woman who has a warrant out for her arrest because her grass was too high.

Even though they didn't know Suttle, they decided to load up their mowers and come mow her lot.

solution the entire state resorts to for every single kind of situation. Someone with a mower reported this lady knowing exactly what her situation is. She was reported by her neighbors. People here have forgotten what it means to be a neighbor, I hope these kids have reminded a bunch of grownups what that is.

reported in the news. There are great people everywhere and we deserve to hear about the good as much as the bad. Those boys are fantastic! That's what community is all about.

Elderly Woman Summoned To Court Again Over Lawn

News 10 reached out to the city multiple times by phone and stopped by city hall to give them a chance to tell their side of the story and explain the most recent summons.

Those calls were not returned.

Yesterday, after the grass was mowed, Suttle was told all she had to do was go to the court and sign some documents saying she didn't receive the original notice to appear about the lawn.

That failure to appear resulted in the warrant being issued.

Once Suttle signed the documents the warrant would be dropped. However, on Thursday she received the summons.

"It is very heartbreaking to see that someone that I didn't even know came out and spent two hours in the sun doing what we thought the city wanted done and then them turn around and say 'no,'" Suttle said.

The Reynolds brothers who mowed her lawn said the city's decision is disappointing.

"It doesn't feel good that we did all that work in the hot sun and now that lady still has to go to court," Brandon Reynolds said.

But the brothers, in their helpful spirit, offered to mow the grass again.

"I'd do it for her a second time, or a third time," Blaine Reynolds said. "Anything to keep that lady from having to go to court."

Suttle said she will definitely be at the court date on June 16 at 9:30 a.m. but now, she said, she's ready to fight the city.

"It really upset me at first," Suttle said. "But now I'm mad and it's not good to have me mad."

Those are good kids. But what the hell is wrong with these officials? Why can't they do the decent thing and leave her the #$@! alone?

warrents stacking up. This oppression is a huge problem in many local communities across the USA. A lot of local communities hire contractors to collect fines, it can even get to the point where the home is sold to pay the fines.

Banks are now suing neighborhood associations because they foreclose on homes for owed fines.

The city/small town or neighborhood then sells the home for the fines owed.

The person is then left homeless with a bank mortgage to still pay off.

The banks that sue want the local system to give them the home and the banks want to pay the court costs and still foreclose the home.

... of Texas. The best being two young men willing to go out of their way to help someone in need, and the worst being the Reisel officials that would jail an elderly woman over the height of her lawn.

You can bet those sanctimonious tight-asses are quite indignant over being exposed as the sadistic sociopaths they are.

When I took over lawn mowing duties from my father as a lad, the job included mowing the old lady's lawn next door, no questions asked and no compensation asked or offered.
