Georgetown officer indefinitely suspended after internal investigation
A Georgetown police officer who was caught on video pushing and tripping high school students last year has been indefinitely suspended following an investigation into a different disciplinary matter, officials said in a press release Friday.
Officer George Bermudezs indefinite suspension stems from an internal affairs investigation the Georgetown police department made into his alleged handling of another officers rifle, investigation records show.
After Officer David Lanier left his rifle at Williamson County Firearms Range on Feb. 2, Bermudez tampered with the weapons scope, which required Lanier to put the rifle out of action for a period of time, investigation records show.
Bermudezs attorney, Robert McCabe, said Friday that Bermudez did not tamper with Laniers rifle and did not who did.
