DPS investigating car fire at Capitol, looking for person of interest

AUSTIN -- The Texas Department of Public Safety is working with the state’s Fire Marshal’s Office on an arson investigation into the car fire on Texas Capitol grounds Friday’s afternoon, according to a news release.

Around 2 p.m. Friday, DPS troopers and Austin firefighters responded to a car on fire on the Capitol grounds. The fire was extinguished, but DPS is seeking the public’s help in identifying a person of interest who was photographed leaving the Capitol grounds.

DPS asks that anyone who has information to call (512) 472-TIPS (8477).
