Hours after judge’s ruling, feds officially axe Timberlawn psych hospital in Dallas from Medicare
DALLAS -- Safety regulators wasted no time cutting off lifeline funding to troubled Timberlawn Mental Health System in Dallas.
At 12:01 a.m. today, just as they promised, they formally terminated the psychiatric hospital over chronically unsafe conditions that have led to one womans death and other patients assaults.
You can read the governments notification letter below. The move came roughly six hours after a Dallas federal judge declined to grant Timberlawn a temporary restraining order to preserve its Medicare and Medicaid.
Timberlawn officials said they would immediately appeal the judges decision. But as of 6 p.m., neither the hospital nor its parent company, Universal Health Services, had filed an appeal with the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
