14 Union Pacific cars derail in Robertson County

KOSSE -- Railroad tracks going through Robertson County reopened late Sunday afternoon after 14 Union Pacific cars derailed over the weekend.

No one was injured in the incident, according to Jeff Degraff, spokesman for Omaha-based Union Pacific.

The 75-car train was travelling southbound on a straight path adjacent to Texas 6 near Kosse when the cars shot off the tracks before 10 p.m. Saturday, he said.

The cars that derailed -- which were carrying lumber and scrap paper products from Arkansas to Laredo -- were toward the front of the line, Degraff said.
