In Texas, some local GOPs call for statewide vote on secession

http://www.chron.com/news/politics/texas/article/texas-secession-independence-nationalist-movement-7248746.php

A handful of Texas Republican district or county conventions in March passed resolutions calling for a vote on secession, paving the way for a potentially awkward debate at the state GOP conference in May.

A Nederland-based pro-independence activist group, the Texas Nationalist Movement, said at least 22 of the hundreds of conventions passed secession items. Texas GOP chairman Tom Mechler said he "would be very surprised" if that many had indeed passed the conventions.

The Houston Chronicle reached out to GOP officials in the counties listed by the Nationalist Movement. Ten responded and all confirmed passage of the resolutions. An official count should be available from the Republican Party of Texas in early May.

I'd even vote for Trump to build a wall between TX and America.

And Ted Cruz could be their Canadian President.

along. Then return to the US mainland. (I wouldn't, because there are some fine Democrats there I would be leaving behind.)

First the Texas GOP is full of crazy people and if you want to have fun read some past Texas GOP party platforms. These platforms are far to the right of the normal GOP. For example, the Texas GOP just recently dropped the plank reinstating the Texas sodomy law (ruled invalid in 2003 by Lawrence v. Texas) in favor of these provisions: http://www.texasgop.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/2014-Platform-Final.pdf

Homosexuality- Homosexuality is a chosen behavior that is contrary to the fundamental
unchanging truths that have been ordained by God in the Bible, recognized by our nation’s
founders, and shared by the majority of Texans. Homosexuality must not be presented as an
acceptable alternative lifestyle, in public policy, nor should family be redefined to include
homosexual couples. We believe there should be no granting of special legal entitlements or
creation of special status for homosexual behavior, regardless of state of origin. Additionally,
we oppose any criminal or civil penalties against those who oppose homosexuality out of faith,
conviction, or belief in traditional values.

Reparative Therapy- We recognize the legitimacy and efficacy of counseling, which offers
reparative therapy and treatment for those patients seeking healing and wholeness from their
homosexual lifestyle. No laws or executive orders shall be imposed to limit or restrict access to
this type of therapy.

Second, any county/senate district convention can propose resolutions. In my SD convention for the Democratic party, we passed resolutions on (i) restoring voting rights act, (ii) banning voter id laws, (iii) legalizing marijuana, (iv) allowing local communities to ban fracking, (v) supporting gay rights and (vi) despite my objections, reinstating Glass Steagall. The legalization of Marijuana as been in the party platform since 2014 and my county/SD convention passed this resolution in 2010, 2012 and 2014. Just because a county convention passes a resolution does not mean that it will make it into the party platform.

Third, the Texas state GOP convention will have open carry. I am trying to start a pool as to how many discharges of weapons and how many people are shot.

Texas republicans are crazy which is why we are working so hard to turn Texas blue.

What's worse is how many so-called "liberals" seem to want it to happen. So much for supporting a strong UNITED States of America.
