Maypearl police chief collected 'provocative' photos of teens he met through work, investigator testifies
A former Maypearl police chief on trial for sexually assaulting a teenager and sexting another collected provocative photos of young girls he met through his job, a Texas Rangers investigator testified Wednesday.
Kevin Coffeys computer cache allegedly included photos of police officers daughters and girls mentioned in Maypearl police records. Authorities believe he found the photos on the girls social media accounts and saved them on his electronic devices without their consent.
We found that a good portion of these girls were stopped by the Maypearl Police Department. They were witnesses to car wrecks or suicides, Adam Sweaney, the lead Texas Rangers investigator in the case, testified.
Coffey, 51, is charged in Ellis County with sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact. He also faces sexual assault charges in Hill and Johnson counties.
