Gay Texas A&M Student Body President Asks to Meet with Rick Perry, Who Charged Him with Stealing the Election

Bobby Brooks, the Texas A&M junior who recently became the university’s first openly gay student body president, has responded to Energy Secretary Rick Perry after Perry, an A&M grad, charged him with stealing the election from Robert McIntosh, the son of a GOP fundraiser.

Perry suggested in an op-ed in the Houston Chronicle, that Brooks’s election was rigged in a quest to bring greater diversity to the school.

Said Brooks in his letter:

“I pledged to make diversity and inclusion a hallmark of my time in office, and I appreciate that you share my view that respecting and honoring all students is one of the things critical to ensuring that Texas A&M continues to grow and remains the world-class university we all know and love…I would like to invite you to come home to Texas to meet with my team and me as we take office later this month to discuss how we can work together to achieve our common vision. We have many students on this campus from all walks of life, whose perspectives I would care to share with you…”

Brooks offered to travel to D.C. to meet with Perry should his schedule allow it.

Well done by Bobby Brooks, putting Perry on the spot like this. In the absence of a response from Perry, Mr. Brooks ought to make the trip to D.C. and hold a well-attended news conference outside Perry's office.
