West Texas A&M investigating prostitution-related crime at all-female dorm

CANYON - The West Texas A&M University Police Department is investigating a report of a prostitution-related crime at an all-female dorm, but the department has declined to release details to the public.

According to the university crime log, the offense was reported Thursday and took place sometime this year at Cross Hall — a high-rise women’s residential hall with capacity for more than 200 students, according to the university.

In describing the nature of the reported crime, the WT crime log lists three charges: compelling prostitution; harassment; and unlawful promotion or disclosure of visual material.

Campus police have not released any further details, citing a need to protect student identities.
