West Texas A&M University officer dies after being bitten by feral cat
CANYON - West Texas A&M University Police Department Cpl. Monty Dale Platt died Tuesday as a result of complications after being bitten by a feral cat two weeks ago while responding to a call on campus. He was 47.
Platt had served with the WTs UPD since 1996.
Campus Law Enforcement lost a great officer in Corporal Monty D. Platt, The West Texas A&M University Police Department Facebook page said. All of us at the University Police Department extend our prayers to the family during this difficult time.
According to a post on the UPD Facebook page, Platt was responding to a call on campus two weeks ago when he was bitten by a feral cat. Last Thursday, Platt reported not feeling well and was taken to an urgent care center with a severe reaction to medication that was prescribed to prevent infections from the bite.
