San Patricio County leaders say cleanup to Hurricane Harvey could take up to six months

Note: San Patricio County is due north of Corpus Christi.

Water and power services are slowly returning to the communities of San Patricio and Aransas Counties, though local leaders expect a full clean-up of the damage and debris to take as long as six months.

"Please have patience," San Patricio County Commissioner Howard Gillespie said at a Saturday press conference. "This isn't a video game. We just can't hit reset and start all over again."

The mayors of Rockport, Ingleside, Ingleside on the Bay and Aransas Pass met Saturday morning to discuss how to manage an overflow of donations and maintain control over their cities as residents trickle back home.

"We do have a plan," Gillespie said. "We're following the plan. The plan just isn't done at the snap of your fingers, OK?"

And that was in 2011. It's going to be a mammoth job, taking an inordinate amount of organization and money since the area that Harvey has devastated is so vast. It's got to be a nationwide effort.
