Dumas police: Student arrested after making school threat

A 17-year-old Dumas Independent School District student was arrested Friday after he allegedly threatened to shoot students at Dumas High School.

The student, Robert Joseph Huff, is charged with making a terroristic threat, a third-degree felony.

Huff “made comments about shooting certain students and shooting up” Dumas High School, according to an affidavit signed by Larry Payne, the Dumas ISD police chief.

Payne wrote the threat was made Feb. 15, which is one day after 17 people were killed in a shooting at a Florida high school. A 19-year-old former student of that school is accused in the shooting.

Huff was booked into Moore County Jail, where he remained Wednesday in lieu of $1 million bond.
