Jimmy Kimmel accepts Ted Cruz's challenge to charity basketball showdown, on one condition: 'VERY short shorts'


Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel will soon go head-to-head in a game of hoops, with the loser donating $5,000 to the non-political charity of the winner's choice.

The catch? Both men must wear "VERY short shorts," at Kimmel's request.

The Republican senator, who's campaigning for re-election in November, opened a Twitter exchange Thursday with Kimmel after the host poked fun at Cruz for sporting a "super-cool, T-shirt-over-a-polo look," at a recent Houston Rockets game.

"Can you be embarrassed by a picture of someone else's dad? Because I am," Kimmel said on his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Kimmel threw some more jabs at the senator's appearance, implying fans mistook Cruz for the undead vampire patriarch from the '60s sitcom The Munsters, as well as for what's been rated one of the world's ugliest animals.

Apparently Ted got wind of this and proceeded to tweet an invitation to play a one-on-one basketball game against Jimmy with the loser giving 5K to charity.
