Some great news in this LTTE!
Great concern
Editor:
It is with great concern that I have watched the dissolution of the Republican Party in our county, and seen the Democratic Party play this like a fine fiddle.
It is more than a coincidence that two predominately Democratic precincts voted strongly for (Goliad) County Judge candidate Bennett. The local Democrat leadership is to be congratulated for insuring newcomer Bennett received heretofore Democrat votes. This combined with poor coordination and divisions within local Republicans may insure the election of a democrat as county judge.
As reports of candidate Bennetts questionable activities surface we may see a reluctance of voters to see him as the proper person to serve as county judge, and thereby result in the election of his democratic opponent. As for those Republicans who have worked so hard and successfully to divide the party, an old saying comes to mind Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive.
Is the Republican Party being infiltrated by spiders?

The GOP challenger, Mike Bennett, beat the GOP incumbent, Pat Calhoun, in the May 22 runoff. The questionable activities that are being referred to is that Bennett allegedly exercised undue influence of an elderly uncle. That lawsuit was later withdrawn, but the plaintiffs continue to post negative documents about Bennett between the time the suit was withdrawn and the runoff election. The plaintiffs later apologized and said that they would no longer engage in such activity.
