A woman shot a man in the head as he tried to steal her SUV with her two children inside Wednesday night, Dallas police say.

An employee of a gas station in the 200 block of West Camp Wisdom Road, near the border with Duncanville, alerted the mother about 10 p.m. that a man was trying to get into her SUV.

She jumped into the vehicle. When the man didn't stop, she pulled a gun from the glove box and shot him in the head, police said.

The vehicle then crashed into a utility pole.

As she puts it. If the guy survives, she may end up caught up in lawsuits as crazy as it sounds. On the other hand, it's Texas and probably the gun laws are in her favor there.

Glad she and the kids are ok. She stopped him but chose not to kill him, I can't see how that is not just trying to save her kids.

especially for the kids. I hope the mom is willing and able to get them some post-trauma counseling.

Imagine first, almost being kidnapped, then seeing someone's head blown off right in front of you, then being in a car crash. Any one of these experiences would be intensely traumatic, but all three in a matter of minutes...
