Lagging in the money chase, Sen. Ted Cruz sees 'very bad' news in bid to fend off Rep. Beto O'Rourke

WASHINGTON — With Democrats pouring money into the Texas Senate race faster than his own donors, Sen. Ted Cruz issued a plea Friday that called the news "very bad" for his re-election bid.

Candidates often employ dire language to shake backers from complacency. But it's no hyperbole to say the one-term Texas Republican is getting a run for his money from El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke.

On Wednesday, the Democrat announced an attention-grabbing $10.4 million haul for the three months ending June 30 — more than double Cruz's $4.6 million tally.

"Our opponent emailed his supporters and the news is BAD. VERY BAD," Cruz wrote supporters Friday afternoon. "We MUST close the gap. We're being outraised by almost 3-to-1 and the polls are getting closer. We need to step up."

pathetic and dirty politics played so well by Cruz w/ decent and well meaning politics, for all of his voters (who voted for and / or against him). Cruz has proven himself repeatedly as being one not in tune w/ his voters in his district, more interested in national politics and not the table top items that his own voters are concerned w/, on a day to day basis.

Motor Mouth Ted needs to be taken out, and his mouth washed out w/ soap.

And the tide is turning hugely against him, and I'm seeing many tired of his lying, his enabling a treasonous president and doing nothing to protect our Democracy. Plus he's helping destroy all health care , and he will help them destroy Social Security soon. I think people have woke up to see cruz is trump lite, and needs to be ousted. His vote giving the wealthiest people billions also is changing many to vote against him now.

gerrymandering, voter suppression, required voter IDs and, no doubt, russian hackers...

this is Texas afterall, where Dems only get fair shake when they are standing on fraking land.

Beto can have all the votes, all the money and actually win, but I won't put it past the repukes to rule in the Zodiac killers favor if it's close...or make it appear close.

I live in Austin and the shit I have witnessed by the repukes to stay in control is appalling.
