Brenham veterinarian wants punishment in cat-killing reversed

A veterinarian whose license was suspended for a year as punishment for killing a cat with an arrow and posting it on social media is trying to have her record cleared.

Attorneys for Kristen Lindsey are asking the Texas Supreme Court to reverse the punishment given to Lindsey by the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.

The remainder of the story is behind a paywall at http://www.brenhambanner.com/news/veterinarian-wants-punishment-in-cat-killing-reversed/article_0f79f180-8f74-5d2c-8f5a-ed43c716c7bf.html .

Background information

Lindsey had her license suspended for one year and was put on probation for four years afterward. In addition to the 17 hours of continuing education in animal welfare annually, Lindsey will have to complete an additional 6 hours annually. More information at http://veterinarynews.dvm360.com/one-year-license-suspension-ordered-kristen-lindsey .

Lindsey lost the appeal of her disciplinary action in April and was ordered to pay court costs for the trial court and the court of appeals. More information at https://www.veterinarypracticenews.com/cat-killing-texas-veterinarian-loses-appeal/ .

Every so often the Universe dishes out justice for the living in concrete observable measurable terms. This is one instance who among Homo Sapiens would be stupid enough to entrust this person with the care of any animal?

4. She's should have faced criminal charges but TX DA refused. Yet it is more than that...

She has been duly black-balled throughout the veterinary profession--even her veterinary alma mater (Dean of CSU Vet school) denounced her, as did the AVMA. The nail in her professional coffin during the veterinary board disciplinary hearings was an academic professor of ethics that testified against her.

She may have only lost her license for a year, but there is no way that she's going to find the kind of veterinary work she once readily could. Why would anyone hire her, when her clients are likely to boycott THEM as a result. The "ALLEY CAT ALLIES" and several other cat protection groups followed her case, provided testimony against her legally, and rightfully hounded her during this entire process. That she got what she got punitively is largely due to THEIR relentlessness.

I've followed this case closely because it upset me greatly. Kristen Lindsey may retain her DVM, but no way to put that genie in the bottle. No, she is not coming through this unscathed and she surely should NOT.
