Former Williamson County DA Jana Duty found dead in Rockport
Jana Duty, the mercurial former Williamson County district attorney who was once jailed for three days in 2016 after clashing with a judge in a controversial murder case, died in Rockport this week, officials said.
Her death was not related to any criminal conduct, according to a new release from the Rockport Police Department. Police received a report at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday that Dutys body was found at the Oak Bay Condos in Rockport Country Club Estates, officials said.
Interim Police Chief Fred Fletcher said police had had received a report about a shot fired at the condominium where Dutys body was found.
According to a post on Dutys Facebook page, she and her husband bought a condominium in Rockport in July after they gave up on building a house in Nicaragua because of the civil unrest in that country.
