A month ago, Sen. John Cornyn picked a fight with Patton Oswalt, highlighting some of the comedian's more vulgar quips after he endorsed Democratic rival MJ Hegar.
Sen. Ted Cruz is fighting a two-front war with Hollywood.
He and actor Jim Carrey have exchanged flaming tweets the past few days, after Carrey posted a cartoon that vilified Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, who had just signed a strict ban on abortion. Carrey depicted her as a doomed fetus, mid-abortion. When Cruz called him out for incivility, he compared the senator to Joe McCarthy.
