Jefferson Co. Democratic Party Chair steps down
Jefferson County’s Democratic Party Chairman is stepping down from his position, effective today.
Cade Bernsen, who has served two terms in the role, made the announcement Tuesday, citing a desire to spend more time with his family and take care of his responsibilities at the law practice he runs with his father.
“My wife is expecting our third child,” he said. “We’re super blessed with that. We’re due in March. That means I’ll have three children five and under and family is my first priority — it always has been.”
He said he’s stepping down now because there’s much work to be done between now and the spring primary election where a new party chair would be elected so he wanted to give enough time for the precinct chairpeople to select an interim chairman.
