Texas state rep. wants to tell Ted Cruz to 'shut the #%¥ up' after Capitol riot
In tweet Sunday, San Antonio-area Republican state Rep. Lyle Larson said if U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz were his friend, he would "be obligated to tell him to shut the #%¥ up" over the baseless claims of wide-spread voter fraud that may have helped fuel an angry mob storming the Capitol last week.
The protest that turned violent caused major politicians, including Vice President Mike Pence to seek shelter, and resulted in at least five deaths.
Larson admitted in his tweet that he had met Cruz twice and "never really cared much for him" before telling the senator that he needed to "be quiet and stop embarrassing himself, his family and our state."
The state representative is one of many Texas lawmakers who have publicly criticized Cruz. On Thursday, U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro said Cruz was "spectacularly irresponsible, an embarrassment to the state of Texas," while his twin brother, former San Antonio mayor Julián Castro, called for the senator's resignation.
